What is it About?

Chosen by the Dragon Lord is a dark fantasy with a slowburn romance.

Five hundred and eighty-seven tributes have been chosen by the Dragon Lord.
None of them survived.

At eighteen, Mira is next-torn from her village by Zhyrkon, a six-hundred-year-old dragon lord whose appetite for tribute is matched only by his cruelty. The chosen are meant to break quickly, to become another portrait in his gallery: beautiful, detailed, dead.

Mira refuses.

Zhyrkon has ruled through absolute dominance for centuries. He has never been challenged. Never been questioned. Never faced a woman who met his gaze with anything but fear.

Until her.

Survival in a dragon's court means navigating a creature who can burn her to ash within seconds, who has already claimed hundreds of lives before her. So Mira watches, learns, asks questions no one has dared to ask. She studies the Dragon Lord, searching for the pattern that might keep her alive. But the deeper she digs into the mystery of Zhyrkon, the more dangerous the truth becomes.

Because the greatest threat may not be his fire...
...but the possibility that he doesn't want her to break at all.

How the Film Started

Originally, I wanted to make a preview trailer of what readers could expect to see in my newest book and it wildly turned into something much bigger than that. The preview never got made. Instead, I’m now making a series out of it.

I began posting small clips to my social media accounts under M.E. Owens hoping for maybe a few followers by the end of the month if I was lucky who might be drawn to read the book. But it has wildly blown up in a way I never expected while my funding is almost nonexistent.

Many have been asking and waiting, enough that I went from creating a book preview to a series instead. And I honestly cannot keep up on my budget. I have been working extra hours just to make a short clip to bring to those who are eagerly waiting. But AI is expensive. I struggle to keep up. But it will not stop me.

My Plan in Making a Film out of the Book:

My goal is to bring my book "Chosen by the Dragon Lord" to life through the use of AI. It is Book One of The Dragons' Reign. There will be around 6-8 books that I know of, that are currently floating around in my head. Which I then plan to recreate visually as a series. Each book a season:

• Book One- Season 1
• Book Two- Season 2
• Book Three- Season 3

And so on... That is the plan anyway. The focus right now is on Season One.

I am estimating the first season to be approximately 15 episodes, give or take, running at roughly 45 minutes each.

What I have created so far still needs a lot of improvement. I would like to create this in 4k with no flaws, or very minimal.

The Team

Currently, I am a one woman show. This project consists of my wild imagination, hard work, and the use of AI. I use Flova.ai with Nano Banana for images, Seedance 2.0 for video generation, and elevenlabs for voices and scores. But if I am using AI, then what am I doing for this project you might ask.

Here is what I do behind the scenes:

• Research
• Write manuscript
• Turn manuscript into script format
• Write the prompts for character creations/character reference sheets
• Write prompts for location images
• Create solid voices to use consistently
• Write prompts for video generation using my script and the character and location images made.
• Then pull it all together in the timeline and clip/edit manually
• Advertise and market on social media platforms

The Cost:

I can't possibly know how much exactly it will cost to bring this together completely. But what I do know:

• Flova.ai- costs $200/month for the professional option.
• Credits for use of AI- $100 buys 12,000 credits (approximately 5-10 minutes of content) 15 45 minute episodes would be around 7500 + more for editing AI bloopers.
• Elevenlabs- $100/month for what this series requires
• Advertising and marketing- roughly $100 a month at first (I have noticed word of mouth and shares from others works as the best advertisement) So spending money on advertising is possibly temporary.

The timeline:

As of now, I get about 5 minutes of content done in 3-4 days. With proper funding, I could increase production by at least double to a 45 minute episode every one-two weeks.

With that, I estimate the first series in Chosen by the Dragon Lord to take around 7-9 months to fully complete.

My Story:

Hello 👋  I’m Michelle, go by pen name M.E. Owens. I write fantasy, horror, thriller, and romance novels, and send a piece of my soul with every piece I write. I have been writing all my life. There is just something special about creating magical worlds to escape to.

I take care of four kids during the day, work part time in the evening, and put everything I have into this project—the little amount of time I have to myself in between everything else, choosing not to sleep just to give myself a little more time, and any money I don’t need for bills or necessities.

I am extremely passionate about this and the love and excitement from everyone has really kept me going. To continue bringing this story to life in the way it deserves, I cannot do this alone, I realize, so here I am, asking you for help and your belief that Chosen by the Dragon Lord is worth it and possibly something you would watch yourself.
