Patchwork Living is a platform that connects property owners with trusted, vetted Gapsitters who provide occupancy and reliability.
Patchwork Living was born from lived experiences with vacant homes and the real challenges they create. I adapted my uncle’s house during cancer treatment, managed my own vacant rental after squatters caused $20,000 in damage in just four days, and stepped in when friends lost parents or relocated for work and suddenly had vulnerable properties. These moments made me realize that families in transition need trusted, skilled people they can count on—but no highly vetted, secure service exists today.
Patchwork Living fills that gap. Think of it as a reverse-Airbnb: instead of strangers renting your home, verified Gapsitters move in short- or long-term to maintain, secure, and care for it. Retired workers, skilled tradespeople, and underemployed neighbors can provide light labor, upkeep, and security, while homeowners gain peace of mind. The platform uses escrow-style payments, layered verification, and cloud-based photo/document storage for accountability.
The vision is bigger than just house-sitting. By uniting modern solutions—AI verification, smart monitoring, secure payments—into one platform, Patchwork creates both a trusted housing-care ecosystem and dignified jobs for people with valuable skills. The opportunity is to scale this into a global network where property owners, families, and communities can depend on each other in times of need.
What begins as a platform for securing vacant homes naturally extends into a community resilience network capable of rapid, on-the-ground response. In times of crisis — from hurricanes to urban outages — these trusted sitters can provide early documentation, wellness checks, and property stabilization before larger agencies mobilize.
