My aim is to open Nashville’s 1st Romance Only Bookstore by Christmas 2025.
🌊 The Coastal Cowboy Romance Bookstore
Hi y’all! I’m Amanda — a single mom, a nurse, an author, and soon the proud owner of Nashville’s very first permanent romance-only bookstore.
Like so many, my life took a sharp turn after COVID-19. I was living my dream as a flight attendant, traveling the world, when the pandemic forced me to give it up. Suddenly, I was a newly divorced, full-time single mom. I packed up my life, drove across the country, and moved back in with my parents — feeling like I’d lost everything. To create stability, I started college full-time and became a nurse.
While I’m grateful for the chance to care for others, my heart isn’t fulfilled. What truly healed me after divorce wasn’t just time — it was romance books, especially romantacy. Fierce heroines, magical worlds, and swoon-worthy heroes reminded me that love stories don’t only happen once. They change, reshape, and grow with us. Those stories gave me back my hope, my passion, and my voice.
That’s why I’m building The Coastal Cowboy Romance Bookstore — a place where readers can discover the same healing, magic, and community.

It’s proof that you can start over after heartbreak, rise stronger, and create something magical.
My grandparents still live on our tribal land. Now I find myself living near the Trail of Tears — a reminder of both loss and survival. Life has a funny way of coming full circle across generations. When I first started dreaming of this business, I googled whether there were any bookstores — let alone romance-only bookstores — owned by Indigenous women in America. I couldn’t find any. That was disheartening.
What I did find was that only 1% of all small businesses in the U.S. are Indigenous-owned. One percent. That number is far too small — and this bookstore is one step toward changing it.
🌟 My American Dream
The American Dream has become something like a distant idea in recent generations. But this — this is my American Dream.
My father’s ancestors came over from Scotland. My mother’s ancestors are of French and Chickasaw descent. And I don’t think they would recognize the American Dream they crossed oceans to provide for their descendants.
As a single mother, I know it would probably be easier to work a 9–5 and place my son in childcare like so many others in my position. But I didn’t have a child just to give him to daycare or public school to be raised by others. I want to be independent enough to have him with me, to show him what it looks like to build something meaningful from the ground up.
I want to create a life that doesn’t feel like work — a life that allows me to provide for him while also being present with him. Because time is all we really have in this world, and we never know how much of it we’ll get.

Romance is the bestselling genre in publishing, but too often it’s dismissed, hidden in the back, or treated like “guilty pleasure.” But romance isn’t lesser — it’s joy, resilience, and hope.
Romance-only bookstores are a growing niche, popping up across the U.S., the U.K., and beyond. And now Nashville — a city built on love stories — will finally have its own permanent romance bookstore.
