Shelby unlocks a way to speak with her recently deceased mother, but soon realizes that living in the past may mean saying no to her future
A little about you
The fact that you're even considering donating to an indie short film tells me one of three things; you're a patron saint, a supportive friend, or being blackmailed by me personally.
Regardless of why you came here, let me just start by saying thank you for supporting this incredibly personal and important project about grief, loss, and finding the courage to move forward - whatever means necessary.
A little about me
I'm a standup comedian, storyteller, writer and director who has performed and produced hundreds of live shows across the country. I have now managed to convince a bunch of extremely talented people to come to New York and film a project that I've been writing for the last year. "Ally it's a short. Why did it take you a year?" Hear me out.
The Story
Morning Light is a heartfelt comedy following Shelby, a woman in her late 20s, navigating that awkward period of grief where people expect her to resume normal life, but she can barely remember to wash the shampoo out of her hair. She sees family moving forward and friends achieving their goals while she struggles to make sense of her loss. One day, she wakes up and discovers that she can speak to her mom for 15 minutes every morning through the pillows in her bed. This gives her a new lease on life and the confidence to move through the world with her pseudo safety blanket. That is until she meets someone she instantly clicks with and realizes she may not be able to have both.
The Project
Your donation will directly support the production; crew, cast, equipment, editing, and everything it takes to make a film.
I'll be posting live updates about the project as we announce cast, host a limited-seat reading, and go live in production.
Donations
Any amount is appreciated and for those that are able to support a little more financially, I am excited to share we'll be throwing in something extra.
$0-$500: Updates following the project with a special look behind the scenes at the production
$500-$1000: Project updates, behind the scenes content, and access to a limited edition collage series created just for this project by Marisa Bazan.
$1000-Above: Everything included in the above tiers and an automatic invite to the limited seat reading before production starts along with an exclusive screening in New York.
To stay up to date on the project, follow me on Instagram and look out for changes to this page.
Thank you again for your support in whatever way it comes to Morning Light. This means the world to us.
