Aim
The aim of our Crowdfunder is to help us move into a safe, affordable, and accessible home before we become homeless.
I wanted to give everyone an update about our situation. At this point, our main goal is no longer trying to stay in our current home. We are now working toward moving into a new place that will be safer, more affordable, and more accessible for Robyn.
Our case manager is helping us look at housing options and is also helping us with the process of getting me approved to be Robyn’s paid caregiver. Robyn is bedridden and needs help with bathing, meals, transferring, toileting, medications, and other daily needs. I already provide this care every day, but getting approved as her paid caregiver could finally give us a more stable source of income while allowing her to continue receiving care from someone she knows and trusts.
This is a positive step, but we still need help getting through the transition. Donations will now be used toward moving expenses, deposits, application fees, transportation, utility setup, storage if needed, and other costs involved in finding and moving into a new home. We also need a place that is accessible for Robyn and will allow us to keep our dogs, who are part of our family.
We are doing everything we can to create a more stable situation instead of continuing to fall further behind. The help from our case manager has given us some hope and a possible path forward, but these programs and approvals take time, and our need to move is immediate.
