Having trouble making a pledge or unsure if your payment went through? Here's a helpful guide to walk you through the most common issues and how to fix them.

I’m Having Trouble Making a Pledge

If you're experiencing problems when trying to pledge, the issue is often related to your payment card. Here's what to check:

  • Double-check your card number, expiration date, CVV, and billing ZIP code.
  • Make sure your card has enough available funds.
  • Confirm your card is authorized for online and foreign transactions, especially if pledging to a project based outside the US.
  • Some cards may require additional verification – contact your bank if you're unsure.
  • Try a different card if the first one fails.

I Didn’t Receive a Pledge Confirmation – Did My Payment Go Through?

There are a few reasons you might not have received your confirmation email:

You Misspelled Your Email Address

If you saw the "Thank you!" confirmation page but didn’t get an email:

  • It’s possible your email was entered incorrectly.
  • You can’t log in? Reach out via the form at the bottom of this page with: 
    • Your name and email used to pledge (even if you think it's wrong)
    • The last 4 digits of your card
    • A link to the project you supported

It Went to Your Spam/Junk Folder

  • Search for the subject line: "You just backed [Project Name]"
  • If it's in Spam, mark it as "Not Spam" so future emails go to your inbox.

It Went to Your Spam/Junk Folder

  • If you used your email, the confirmation would be sent to you.

Your Payment Didn't Go Through

If you never saw the "Thank you!" page, your pledge likely failed. Try the following:

  • Re-enter all card details carefully.
  • Contact your bank to ensure:
    • No holds or fraud checks are active
    • Your card is authorized for online/foreign transactions
    • Sufficient funds are available (especially on debit or prepaid cards)

Still not sure? Check your pledge history:

  1. Log into your Crowdfunder account
  2. Click your profile icon
  3. Select My Pledges

Here, you’ll see all your pledge activity and can manage or cancel eligible pledges.

I Think I Might Have Pledged Twice by Accident

If you believe you've been charged twice, don’t worry – here’s how to check:

  1. Log into your account
  2. Go to My Pledges from the dropdown under your profile
  3. Find the pledge in question and click the "+" to expand it

If You See a "Cancel Pledge" Button:

  • Your funds haven’t yet been sent to the project owner.
  • Click Cancel Pledge and follow the on-screen instructions.

If There’s No Cancel Option:

  • The funds have likely already been paid out.
  • Contact our support team via the form at the bottom of this page, and we’ll advise you on next steps.

Used Guest Checkout?

To manage your pledges, follow the activation link in your "Thanks for your pledge" email to convert to a full Crowdfunder account.
