What is a stretch goal and how do I set one?

What is a stretch goal?

A stretch goal is an optional, higher fundraising target you can set after reaching 100% of your original goal.

Here's how it works:

  • Stretch goals are completely optional and can be added, edited, or removed at any time.
  • They’ll only appear once you’ve fully funded your original goal.
  • Your funding progress bar will update to highlight donations beyond your initial goal in bright pink.

Why set a stretch goal?

  • Show your supporters that you’re still building momentum and aiming higher

They’re also a great way to recognize what you’ve accomplished together – and to invite your community to help you take the next step.

How to set a stretch goal

Once your campaign is live:

Here's how it works:

  • Go to the Overview section of your live project dashboard.
  • Enter your stretch goal and click save.
  • As soon as you hit 100% of your original goal, the stretch goal will be shown on your campaign page.

You can update your stretch goal at any time – raise it, lower it, or remove it altogether.

Pro tip

When announcing a stretch goal, clearly explain:

  • Why you’re raising the target
  • What the extra funds will be used for
  • How much your supporters have already helped you achieve

Using "All or Nothing" funding?

If your campaign uses the All or Nothing funding model, don’t worry – you only need to reach your original target to receive the funds.

Hitting your stretch goal is not required for your campaign to be successful.

Can I Raise More Than My Stretch Goal?

Absolutely. Your campaign will stay live until the deadline, and you can keep receiving donations even if you pass your stretch goal – there’s no upper limit.
