A large percentage of valuation was derived from natural/organic search listings and market penetration in the used car automotive market. Implemented lead generation program selling automotive leads to major ecommerce players. This area quickly became the top revenue earning category for the company Implemented contextual advertising program which became 2nd top earning category. Quadrupled overall traffic to over 2 Million page views per month via natural search optimization. Board Member from 2002 until sale of company, took on VP role in 2005 for sale of company.
Pioneered Autobytels search engine marketing program as the Nation's first in-house Director of Search at a publicly held company. No comparables existed to justify my salary at the time so Autobytel's in house M&A dept. treated me as an acquisition in order to justify my expense. Conducted organic search engine optimization, keyword research, ROI analysis, conversion, search engine vendor relationships, paid inclusion and website analytics for the nations largest online new car buying service. Generated $9.1MM in pure profit during my two year tenure here. At start of my tenure less than 1% of site traffic was derived via organic SEO. At the end of my tenure 14.3% of site traffic was generated via organic SEO. Drove a 1304% increase in organic / natural search engine traffic to main web properties: Autobytel.com, Autoweb.com, CarSmart.com and Autosite.com within a one year timeframe. Increased number of web pages indexed by search engines from less than 100 pages to more than 20,000,000 across all web properties. Took Autobytel.com from 4,500 to 300,000 natural keyphrase search engine rankings as determined by Omniture referring keyword reporting. Created business unit from scratch driving over $30 MM in profit derived via organic / natural search engine traffic from inception in March 2003 to present day where initiatives I put in place are still being used. (March 2010 was last estimation) Autobytel's only two years of profitability in the 11 years since going public in 1999 were the years of 2003 and 2004 during my exact tenure at the company.
