I am a tree, water and dirt lover to my core. My connection to and love for Earth and Humanity led me to pursue a Bachelors degree in Sociology, with an emphasis in institutions and environmental affairs. I served as Charter President of Ventura Rotaract for two years; a role that enlightened me to the global collective of individuals driving positive change, and to my individual agency and ability to communicate publicly. My experiences in realms of academia, philanthropy and wilderness exploration have reinforced my faith in human kindness and ingenuity, and of the prospect for affecting environmental health. The great minds and beautiful hearts which are catalysts in this project, and the infinite potential for favorable communal and global transformation, inspire me to grow my knowledge, seek greater truths, and protect our most basic foundations of life.
Blue Voice Fellow
Blue Ocean Sciences
June 2013 - Present
As a Blue Voice Fellow, I have the opportunity to collaborate with 5 ocean-minded young strangers and 3 hugely intelligent and talented mentors. We speak for the Ocean, all creatures, ourselves, and future generations. Our Summer 2013 Adventernship consists of raising environmental consciousness, empowering individuals and communities, aiding in and conducting field research, playing integral roles in the launch of Blue Ocean Science technology, and most importantly playing and exploring California's wondrous natural gems. By synthesizing science, social media and adventure, we hope to inspire people to become stewards of the land and Ocean; to join our efforts in protecting essential-to-life natural resources.
Rotaract Club of Ventura
November 2009 - June 2013
Rotaract is a humanitarian family for students and young professionals ages 18-35. We chartered the Club to promote community and international service, inspire youth to become involved in real-world issues, and grow roots in our beautiful community. To date, we've volunteered with over 70 organizations and foundations, traveled abroad to India, Mexico and Nicaragua to lend wo/man power, supplies, support and educational experience, and hosted 5 fundraiser and awareness campaigns.
Intern: Rise Above Plastics
City of Ventura and Surfrider Foundation
August 2012 - February 2013
I developed a program to spread Surfrider's Rise Above Plastics campaign to disseminate environmental education to +800 local youth. I hoped to inspire youth to become stewards of Earth by creating a full-circle understanding of natural beauty, our life-dependence upon a healthy ocean, and the impact of first-world living. I learned conveying hope and positivity are essential to rallying support for environmental causes. The youth I encountered challenged, inspired and rejuvenated my focus.
