Summary
After producing film, TV, and special events for 20+ years, Darrell’s passion for Classic cars and Antiques has finally come to the forefront. While working in the industry, I would obtain locations, transportation, and antique furniture, and period pieces for filming in Victorian Mansions, Missions, and glamorous Pre War structures. I was overwhelmed with curiosity and enthused to hear the stories, legacy, and history behind these places. My first car was a 1963 Volkswagen beetle, 6 volt, with a 1300 cc motor that broke down every 3 days, “I loved It” I learned with a pair of vise grips, duct tape, $2.00 in gas, and determination you can fix almost any problem on a VW. So, a builder of ‘Black Plate Classics’ I became.

Over the past 50 years, the Microbus, (Kombi or Samba) has evoked its presence on a ‘Global Society’ in various ways. Since its resurfacing over the past years, VW enthusiast has been creating ways to restore that wonderful day when they first purchased it, Again !. Now, through technology, research, development, fabrication, customization and a major passion to ‘Re-Live’ that era, We at Black Plate Classics (black license plates from the 50’s-60’s) will build and re-produce affordable VW Microbuses for ALL. “The Peoples Car”.
