Fifteen years ago Lucas was one of the first to join Merchant e-Solutions (MeS). Fifteen years later he was one of the last to go when Cielo bought MeS for $800M. To say the least, he is a well-respected veteran in the payment space.
• Led business from software-based solutions to a web based application format which resulted in higher sales, better retention, and less risk. • Principal architect of Merchant e-Solutions PayEverywhere Mobile Payments Suite which include iPhone, iPad, Android, and Blackberry applications. Winner of the 2012 Stevie Award in the category of New Product or Service of the Year. • Principal architect of Merchant e-Solutions Virtual Terminal product to support manual credit card entry, card-swipe entry, batch-import, recurring billing, and Level 3 Purchase Card support. Guided continuing development of feature enhancements and GUI design. • Instituted Quality Assurance team with manual and automated processes to improve and accelerate product release. • Implemented alternative payment methods including Automated Clearing House (ACH) e- checks, Bill Me Later, Account Updater Service, 3D Secure, and PaySecure Online PIN debit on MeS Payment Gateway product. • Evaluated numerous fraud detection and risk management tools for both in-house and merchant-facing applications. Made recommendations that are being currently implemented. • Management of new and existing POS products. Maintained a thorough understanding of products in the marketplace. Worked with partners and vendors on tight deadlines. Handled third-party negotiations, contract management, development of marketing materials, staff and client training, and coordination of inventory acquisition, vendor payment, and in-house application development. • Worked in various capacities to assist in start-up of Merchant e-Solutions. As one of the key first five employees, I contributed to building a full-service, end-to-end payment platform for financial institutions and merchants that now processes more than $14 billion dollars per year in domestic and international payments for more than 65,000 merchants, with over250 financial institutions utilizing our technology platform.
• Key player in evolution of the bank’s acquiring/processing business from a cost center to a growing source of revenue which contributed to the spin-off and IPO of its merchant business into BAMS (Bank of America Merchant Services), a stand-alone, publicly -traded company. • Principal architect of online E-Stores project in partnership with Warner Brothers. eStores enabled Bank of America to be the first bank to offer businesses the opportunity to sell products online with a turnkey system. Evolved eStores into a family of products that would meet the needs of the smallest to the largest e-commerce merchants. Defined requirements, managed resources, and tested one of first suites of online e-commerce products for small to large businesses. • Responsible for keeping staff trained and motivated on constantly changing technologies and procedures. Led Bank from over-reliance on credit card terminals to emerging processing software that resulted in higher sales and better retention.
