Company Overview

LesQueers (LQ) is a new mobile application for the LGBTQIA+ community. We focus on friendship, professional networking, finding queer friendly venues/businesses, and everything we need for a lifestyle. You can find anything from sports teams to queer friendly housing through our app. We will launch in the United States by September 2018. Stay tuned! We are an inclusive platform, everyone and anyone is welcome.

We aren't just an application, but a social enterprise and community with a mission to make LGBT mainstream. We believe in the use of technology to support social movements, and we have built a sustainable model to support the LGBT community that aligns with the values and needs of the community.

  • Difficult to find LGBTQIA+ community for reasons outside of romance; lack of a comprehensive platform to find queer events city by city
  • Lack of a dedicated social network to grow queer communities, organizations and friendships
  • Incomplete channel for queer streaming, movies, TV, music & literature
  • LGBTQIA+ physical gathering spaces are fading away due to increased real estate costs
  • Inconsistent standards for what it means to be an LGBTQIA+ friendly business /org
  • Current online platforms focus on dating, limiting the impact / values the community represents

  • Our mobile application is a one stop location for all genders of the queer community: events, group chats, entertainment, media. Users interact through either personal accounts and/or business accounts specific to any city in the world
  • We created an easy to use system that allows consumers to evaluate businesses and their LGBTQIA+ friendliness in a way that integrates into a member’s daily life
  • Co-working/Co-living spaces function as modern community centers for providing office space, event space, safe housing with amenities at an affordable price
  • Q Outreach: LQ is dedicated to the progress and empowerment of the queer community. We will use 10% of our annual budget to provide free support for the queer community.

Founded in 2014, initially as a WeChat group to combat the absence of a distinctive queer women’s scene in Shanghai. The group steadily grew and later became LesQueers , which defines itself as a community hub and safe space for the LGBTQIA+ Community. LesQueers currently enjoys a membership of over 10,000 people globally, and is rapidly growing.

""Lifeline Shanghai was fortunate to attend the LesQueers Diversity & Tolerance training recently. The professional trainers created a welcoming and inclusive environment, where all questions could be asked and answered, without anyone feeling uncomfortable. The LQ team provided great insight into the LGBTIQ+ community, sharing their knowledge of the importance and impact of using inclusive language, understanding gender diversity, whilst challenging community acceptance...""

"We are happy to meet such a team as LQ and use innovative technologies to commit to the LGBTQ community in China. Nvai expects more cooperation with LQ, starting from the needs of the local community, jointly promoting the diversity of society, increasing the vitality and visibility of the Chinese community, and creating a more fair and just environment."
Events Manager
"The cooperation between LQ and LUCCA 390 & HUNT was very special, initially just an idea to have an open mic to hear the silent voices of our community and give them opportunity to share their talents, stories, ideas, and heart... LQ has been successful in keeping the Open Mic running at LUCCA 390 on Tuesday and now Wednesday nights, in the past were generally slower nights for the community. OPEN MIC is a perfect example showcasing LUCCA 390 isn’t just a party place, but heart and soul to open and suppor"

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does the LGBTQIA+ Community need its own platform?

Currently the queer community is spread across Facebook, Instagram, Meetup and Wechat. There isn't a designated space specifically for the queer community to find each other and gather. Through these bigger platforms it makes it harder to find, and our voices get lost amongst the crowd. Offline LGBTQIA+ community centers exist in every major city in the US, and it's important that we create our own community center online.

Why are you moving your HQ?

We started in Shanghai, and we are Shanghai's leading LGBTQIA+ community with connections all over China. We will keep our office in Shanghai; however, for growth and expansion in the United States, Los Angeles has the best market for what we are doing. There is a huge LGBTQIA+ community there, and an especial need for queer women based events and activity.

Why co-working spaces?

Co-working spaces lends well to hub for community. We need offices anyway, and since we are a community application we want to offer and open up our space as a hub in different cities. Members of our community value a place where they can be who they truly are. From a financial perspective: Rapid Growth- The number of co-working locations worldwide has increased from 1,130 in 2011 to 13,800 in 2017. Over the same period, the number of members has drastically increased from 43,000 to 1.2 million. Current forecasts provided by the largest co-working conference operator GCUC and Emergent Research indicate the number of co-working members will rise to a staggering 3.8 million by 2020 and 5.1 million by 2022.
