I Am On Location is pioneering a new service in the sharing economy by connecting news organizations with a large quantity of HD news video shots, interviews and packages from its vast network of video journalists, greatly reducing the cost of its acquisition.
Newsrooms are desperate to cut costs without reducing quality. I Am On Location has figured out how to do that.
1. Create the high quality HD footage they are used to getting from their staff photographers
2. Get around the unions by selling newsrooms videos, not stringer services
3. Use technology to move the shots and sound bites from the scene into the newsroom in real time
Those are the three components to our success and why major news organizations are in discussions with us, having moved this past week beyond discovery, to test and planning.
As a result of our business model we have customers lining up from large news networks to online community properties. Download the pitch deck for more information.
We are able to deliver high quality HD footage in real time to newsrooms by hiring experienced videographers to shoot news videos while on call for us, distributing them from the field to our platform in less than a minute. Uploading is accomplished with a portable WIFI hotspot and the Company’s proprietary app.
The Company’s news videos are made available through its own user interface that provides in-browser preview, selection and download from a real-time feed. In addition, videos and meta data can be distributed to any video management system used by a news network and its affiliates, from broadcast to web with simple plug-in API’s.
Newsrooms are not buying a “stringer” service from I Am On Location but instead, are buying stock editorial video that is delivered in real time and covers local stories. This may be important to those concerned about photographer union issues. Just like any stock footage available on various Internet sites, the shots are not exclusive. Only custom orders received from our newsroom customers are exclusive, and are typically placed when their photographer is not available to cover the story.
To ensure quality, I Am On Location’s independent videographers are trained, certified and monitored on an on-going basis and on the clock when you need them. All videos are verified through authentication, app-tagging of the location and time of upload. All uploads are also monitored for correctness by an experienced news team.
Finally, news organizations can submit custom shoot assignments to the Company’s news desk as well as use our video coverage on both local and national stories. We shoot the video for the stories you write.
We need to raise $500,000 in Q4 to onboard the new CEO, gear up for partnerships with big news media companies and strengthen our video journalist team. This round is the last chance to get an investment in I Am On Location, under value at $2.4MM pre-money. We will raise $10MM in Q1 at a $20MM valuation based upon acquiring patents and IP from co-founders.
