California Coalition for Families and Children PBC, a Delaware Public Benefit Corporation founded by parents and children and devoted to protecting parents' and children's interests in divorce, custody, juvenile justice, and parentage matters. Founded by Cole Stuart in 2013, we're parents first–moms and dads–and also professionals–lawyers, doctors, bankers, teachers, artists, and cops–people just like you who've experienced family and juvenile courts as a harmful and unnecessary dysfunction. We believe that parents–not courts, divorce lawyers, or "family experts"–instinctively know what's best for their children, and if given the tools and opportunity, will do a far, far better job for their children and themselves. Weightier Matter (www.weightiermatter.com) is the online news and resource site of California Coalition.
If mismanaged, family conflict can be tremendously harmful, even dangerous. Yet courts, attorneys, and "experts" regularly cultivate it out of their own greed, ideological intoxication, or in pursuit of a shallow, short-sighted institutional gain. Institutional intervention regularly endangers not only children, but the entire family through clumsy, thoughtless, and frequently illegal action.
Existing public and private resources are woefully inadequate to protect parents' and children's best interests, health, safety, and happiness. Through education, action, and compassion, our community of parents assist one another in achieving healthier, safer, and far more satisfying outcomes from family conflict than existing conflict-resolution models. Safe and healthy parent and child education toward autonomy is the only lasting solution. Tolerance and patience aren't merely high virtues, they're signs of intelligence and psychological maturity worth cultivating, yet sorely lacking among our Family Court bureaucrats.
