Why We Started This Company

Over my 20 years in science education, I've grown increasingly frustrated by the apparent scientific illiteracy of the American public & a public school system that does nothing about it. Science in schools is abysmal thus children are unable to think critically, solve problems, explore multiple possibilities & explain scientific phenomena. I intend to fix this by creating intentional, inviting & simple science spaces that value wonder & curiosity giving kids a chance to see why science matters.

What Sets Us Apart

Market: StoSci fills a need. Science ed is limited in & out of school. Science literacy is necessary for citizenship & US is failing in this area. We capitalize on kid's natural curiosity & parents desire to give their kids a leg-up. People: Dr. Ardizzone’s experience and reputation. 20+ years in science education. Quality: Programs built on best practices: Inquiry, child-centered, critical thought, problem-solving. Physical space is engaging & cost-effective. Expansion: can be opened anyw

Our Keys To Success

Nothing like Storefront Science currently exists. Museums offer science but lack interactivity & can be cost-prohibitive. Schools teach to tests & ignore scientific thinking. Afterschool programs & camps "enrich" kids but rarely do science for lack of qualified staff. StoSci addresses these short-comings: it is interactive, affordable, creative, student-driven, & applies both scientific content and process. We realize the value of science and have the knowledge & skill to do what others can't.

Our Accomplishments

StoSci opened in January with a full roster of classes for winter session. Spring enrollment was twice that of winter and our summer camps in August were sold out. We were voted "Best of New York" by New York Magazine, and featured in the Manhattan Times, Mommy Poppins and Big Apple Parent. For fall, we are adding additional weekend and family friendly programs.
