What is contribution-based crowdfunding?
Contribution is non-investment funding. This model fits companies who have products or services that supporters are willing to pre-purchase, contribute to, or support for personal reasons. This model is currently available on Crowdfunder.com. To learn more, please visit our Contribution vs. Securities-based Crowdfunding page.

Is Crowdfunder a suitable platform for my company?
As part of building a robust business community, Crowdfunder needs to ensure that it is the most appropriate crowdfunding solution for the founders, contributors, and users within its social network. For a variety of reasons, there are certain verticals that are difficult for us to assess and therefore we cannot support on Crowdfunder. These include:
- Guns/Firearms
- Tobacco/Cigarettes
- Pyramid Marketing
- Gambling
- Contests and Raffles
If you are unsure whether your business is appropriate for Crowdfunder, please reach out to our support team. One of Crowdfunder’s representatives will review your submission, and respond within 48 hours.
Does Crowdfunder only support for-profit companies?
Yes. Hand in hand with Crowdfunder’s focus on social enterprise and impact contribution is our strong belief in helping companies reach self-sustainable growth. We are a platform for for-profit companies. We are not a site for non-profits.
What is CROWDSTART?
CROWDSTART is Crowdfunder’s national series of crowdsourced startup events where companies present their business concepts and compete for crowd support, funding and access to a team of seasoned entrepreneurs and mentors. The event is open to any startup / small business organized in the US with a product or service ready to be demoed.
Check out our past and ongoing events below:
- 07/12 – 09/12 CROWDSTART LV
- 05/12 – 07/12 CROWDSTART LA
Is my company eligible for CROWDSTART contests?
To participate, your company must be organized in the US and have a demo-ready product or service. Concepts and ideas not backed by practical demonstration will be considered insufficient for participation and deemed ineligible by contest organizers. Be sure to see the eligibility rules of each contest as they may differ contest to contest.
How do I get more support?
By creating the best Campaign Profile possible to incentivize crowdfunders to support your company. By getting all your friends to create a Crowdfunder profile and support your company. Think of it as managing a marketing campaign for a chance to win real investment dollars.
Is there a registration fee?
There is no fee for registering on Crowdfunder.com or entering CROWDSTART contests.
