Why We Started This Company
Unless you're a big named chef or celebrity, securing a cookbook publishing contract is almost as hard as picking this week's winning lottery numbers. Many aspiring cookbook authors/food bloggers are turing to self-publishing to leverage their large fan bases and monetize their recipes. Right now, self-publishing services are pricy, time consuming and difficult to break through and get noticed. BakeSpace.com's Cookbook Cafe eliminates these limitations and changes the cookbook publishing model!
What Sets Us Apart
Our platform isn't just a publisher, it's also a storefront/marketplace & reader. The platform allows anyone to create a cookbook both as a web based ebook and iPad app... for free. The platform was created by the team that launched the first food social network in 2006 - BakeSpace.com.
Our Keys To Success
Unlike other DIY publishing services that help authors create traditional ebooks or mobile apps, our platform is free AND not limited by technology platform. It functions across different types of devices, including the iPad and any desktop or mobile web browser. One of the inspirations for creating Cookbook Cafe was to improve how non-profit organizations (schools, non-profits, etc.) use crowdsourced cookbooks for fundraising. We also produce work with brands on building branded cookbooks.
Our Accomplishments
Recent awards: "Best Social Tablet App" Webby Honoree, IACP nomination for "Most Intriguing Use of New Technology", three w3 Awards and an Appy Nomination for "Best iPad Publishing App." We launched the first crowdsourced cookbook publishing platform - allows anyone to share links to their cookbooks so others can add a recipe to their cookbooks. We are funded by our customers.
